The Eagle-Tribune

---- — ATKINSON — Hundreds of people turned out Feb. 11 for a night of inspiration hosted by the Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce.

They came to learn the secrets behind successful business leaders who turned their passions into profitable careers. The Chamber’s Young Professional Committee “HYPE” (Helping Young Professionals Excel) hosted the Second Annual Big Speaker Event.

The keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Ivan Misner, the founder and chairman of the worldwide business networking organization BNI (Business Networking International). Misner shared his story of founding BNI when he was only 27 years old, and the lessons he learned over his 40-year career to grow the organization into a successful, worldwide, billion-dollar company.

The event also featured the success story of local entrepreneur Joe Faro. He described the challenges he faced in taking his passion for creating the authentic Italian food, and turning it into a successful business.

Faro also shared his “top 10” pieces of advice for success, and described his current project of developing Tuscan Villa, located in the Salem Depot area, which includes the Tuscan Kitchen and Tuscan Market.
