Woman charged for trying to steal game controllers

SALEM — When loss prevention personnel tried to stop a shoplifting suspect, she kicked, punched and tried to bite them, according to Salem police.

Van Do, 42, of Epping faces charges of robbery and shoplifting after the incident at the Sears store in the Mall at Rockingham park just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Store employees told police Do was trying to steal two Sony game controllers, valued at $110, according to Deputy Chief Shawn Patten. It was when the employees confronted her that Do allegedly tried to hit and kick them.

Salem police responded to the store and took her into custody without incident.

Do was charged with robbery because she used physical force during the commission of a theft, Patten said.

She was released on $2,500 cash bail pending her arraignment in Salem District Court.
