---- — PLAISTOW — Tonight the Timberlane Performing Arts Center welcomes Mare Duo, the highly acclaimed classical duet featuring Annika (Lueckenergfeld) Hinsche and Fabian Hinsche, two of Germany’s most successful musicians on their respective instruments, mandolin and guitar.
As soloists and chamber musicians they have won more than 20 prizes in international competitions across Europe. Appearing with the Mare Duo will be the New England Mandolin Ensemble, a quartet exploring the classical mandolin quartet format. NEME is directed by August Watters, a professor at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, and also features Ted Mann (Keene State), Charles Moser and John Zevos.

Register for upcoming driving class
SALEM — Ingram Senior Center will host an AARP driving class Monday, Oct. 7, and Wednesday, Oct. 9. The two-session class will be from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
The class includes information on defensive driving techniques and age related changes to vision, hearing, reaction time and much more.Other topics covered are antilock brakes, air bags and safety belts.The course is a combination of class discussion and videos.
Several insurance companies that do business in New Hampshire offer discounts after taking this class.There are no tests. The class is open to any age driver, but is geared to people over 50. School renovation session set for Thursday
SALEM — The high school planning committee will meet Thursday to review the proposed Salem High School renovation project.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the school’s television studio.
Committee members are seeking input on the $75 million project, which includes renovation of the Career and Technical Education Center.
The district is now renovating the Fisk, Soule and Haigh elementary schools.
Senior Service Fair is coming up
PLAISTOW — The annual “Senior Service Fair” will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Plaistow Fish and Game Club.
This year, 100 organizations and businesses have been invited to share with seniors and their families the service they offer.
There will be presentations from select organizations on the topics of senior safety, muscle mobility, wellness programs and more.
The Timberlane Middle School Student Senate will be on hand to serve refreshments and help attendees find information.

Self-defense class offered in Pelham
PELHAM — Pelham police are hosting a free Rape Aggression Defense class for women.
The class looks at self defense, awareness and avoidance. The course is scheduled for three nights, Oct. 10, 15 and 17. The three-hour class sessions start at 6:30 p.m.
