---- — ATKINSON — A business-social mixer is set for Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Legacy Ballroom at the Atkinson Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive.
The event, open to the public, is designed to bring regional individual, small and medium-sized businesses together. Attendees are encouraged to bring business cards.
There will be free hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, live music, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit CASA, a charity helping abused and neglected children in New Hampshire.

HAMPSTEAD — Children and adults are invited to Read for the Record at Hampstead Public Library on Oct. 3 at 1:30 p.m.
This annual reading celebration highlights the need for quality early education in the United States.
More than 2 million voices around the country will call for an end to the nation’s early education achievement gap by reading “Otis” by Loren Long.
Join in for crafts, songs, and snacks as participants help break the world record for a shared reading experience. No advance sign-up is required.
Lunch on hearty soup, sandwiches
HAMPSTEAD — A soup and sandwich luncheon will be held Oct. 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Hampstead Union Church.
Offerings include a variety of soups and sandwiches, chips, pickles, assorted beverages and desserts.
The suggested donation of $6 per person supports the church’s operating fund.
The site is chair-lift accessible. Take-out meals are available. The church is an interdenominational Christian Fellowship serving the community since 1897. All are welcome.
