PELHAM — John H. Hargreaves VFW Post 10722 is holding a science-fiction theme dinner at 6 p.m. Friday.

People can dress as characters from their favorite science-fiction adventures, such as “Star Wars” and “Star Trek.”

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12.

The VFW is encouraging people to purchase tickets in advance.

Ayotte’s staff to meet residents

U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H.,announced that a member of her staff will hold office hours tomorrow in Plaistow, Newton and Hampstead to hear residents’ concerns.

Ayotte’s staff will be at Plaistow Town Hall from noon to 1 p.m. They will then go to Newton Town Hall at 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and then finish the day at Hampstead Town Hall from 3 to 4 p.m.

Residents who are interested in meeting with a member of Ayotte’s staff should call Simon Thomson at 622-7979 to schedule an appointment or just stop off at the locations.

Fitness boot camp begins in Windham

WINDHAM — An extreme fitness boot camp starts Nov. 4 at Center School.

Sessions are 6:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Open Mic Night set in Newton

NEWTON — Gale Library will host its Fall Open Mic Night on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6:30 p.m.

Pam and Rob Hallock will sing and perform on guitar, violin and mandolin. Residents are encouraged to come and share their talent

Sign-up sheets will be located at both circulation desks.

The library is open Monday and Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Tuesday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
