---- — Seven area New Hampshire towns have seen their tax rates set.
Pelham made a big move down, $1.53 or 6.3 percent, to $22.87 per $1,000 of property valuation.
The town share of the Pelham budget accounted for more than $1 in the reduction.
“The $1.01 reduction in the town rate fulfills the commitment the board made to taxpayers that the funding of the new fire station at a dollar on the tax rate would be a one time expense,” selectmen said in announcing the new rate.
The state Department of Revenue Administration has posted rates for six other towns, including Derry, Kingston, Londonderry, Newton, Salem and Windham.
Here’s a look at the newly set rates in the region:
Derry, $31.49, up $1.01 from $30.48.
Kingston, $24.28, up $2.64 from $21.64.
Londonderry, $21.10, up 60 cents from $20.50.
Newton, $25.30, up $1.39 from $23.91.
Salem, $20.46, down 12 cents from $20.58.
Windham, $23.60, up 55 cents from $23.05.
