Kelly Twomey of Salem has been named to the dean's list at Bentley University for the spring 2010 semester. She is a 2008 graduate of Brooks School in North Andover, Mass., and will be entering her junior year at Bentley, majoring in marketing.

Jessica DeAngelo of Atkinson was named to the commendable scholar list for the spring 2010 semester at Mitchell College in New London, Conn.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Leah E. Curtin graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

She is the daughter of Deborah and Stephen Curtin of Londonderry.

Curtin graduated in 2004 from Londonderry High School and received a bachelor's degree in 2008 from Plymouth State University.

The Greater Salem Chamber of Commerce is announced attorney Bernard H. Campbell of Beaumont and Campbell, Professional Association as this year's recipient of their most prestigious honor, the William A. Brown Distinguished Businessperson Award.

This award is presented to an individual who, by a single act or through a variety of activities, has enhanced the business environment of this community.

U.S. Navy Lt. j.g. Adam Letizio, a former Windham resident and eldest son of Al and Patti Letizio, was recently awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Letizio received a personal letter of congratulations from Navy Rear Adm. William Sizemore recognizing then Ensign Letizio's "swift and decisive actions while handling an engine failure in (his) T-44C aircraft." Sizemore added "Due to (Lt. Letizio's) exceptional NATOP knowledge, airmanship and decision making, lives were saved and the loss of a vital asset was prevented. (Lt. Letizio) epitomizes a culture of professional excellence."

Breanna Fudala attended Newbury College in Brookline, Mass. and was named to the dean's list. She studied international business. Fudala graduated from Londonderry High School last year.

She will be attending Plymouth State University this fall, continuing her studies in business.

Alyssa Hamilton of Plaistow and Rachelle Messuri of Atkinson have enrolled at Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Standish, Maine, beginning in the fall semester.

Kaleigh Schwalbe of Londonderry was named to the dean's list for spring 2010 semester at the University of Delaware.

  • Dissenter shifts on police article

    HAMPSTEAD - Selectman Sean Murphy told the crowd at last night's deliberative session that he changed his mind about the $1.53 million warrant article to build a new police station.
    Murphy voted not to recommend the plan to build a 7,600-square-foot, one-story facility on Veterans Way in January. But he told more than 50 people at last night's meeting he now feels differently.

    LONDONDERRY — More than 270 of the town's 14,700 registered voters came out last night to hear details of the school district's proposed $64.7 million budget.
    Final voting on the budget and other warrant articles is set for March 13.
