NORTH ANDOVER — Jim Falzone has been named general manager of North of Boston Media Group, which publishes The Eagle-Tribune and its sister newspapers.
Falzone, 42, of Haverhill, has worked as operations director of The Eagle-Tribune since 2003, managing all production of the company's four daily and five weekly newspapers and several glossy magazines.
In the newly created position of general manager, Falzone will take on the additional duties of leading the North of Boston finance, human resources, and information technology departments, which support all of the group's daily and weekly newspapers and other publications. In addition to The Eagle-Tribune, they include The Salem News, The Daily News of Newburyport, the Gloucester Daily Times, The Haverhill Gazette, The Andover Townsman, the Derry News, N.H. Let's Go and the Carriage Towne News.
Prior to joining The Eagle-Tribune, Falzone worked as production director for the Gannett-owned Ithaca (N.Y.) Journal. He has won numerous industry accolades, including Editor & Publisher magazine's prestigious "Production All-Star Award" and Presstime Magazine's "20 Under 40" award honoring outstanding newspaper leaders under the age of 40. He is immediate past president of the New England Newspaper Operations Association and currently serves as vice president of the organization.
Editor;s note: The headline on this story in the print edition of today's Eagle-Tribune incorrectly stated that Falzone will "lead the North of Boston Media Group." Falzone was named general manager of the group, with oversight of departments, like the press room, that serve all of the publications in the North of Boston Media Group.
