HAVERHILL — A cord of wood cut into 16-inch lengths has been stolen from behind the office maintenance building at Forest Acres Apartments, police said.

Edward Dias told Officer Scott Gleed he had a large pile of cordwood piled up behind the building at 28 Forest Acres Drive and on Saturday afternoon, an unknown person driving a blue truck, drove around the back of the building and loaded up some of the wood.

Dias told police the man returned about 8 a.m. Sunday and took more of the wood.

Dias told police when he arrived for work about 8:30 a.m. Monday he saw the truck there again.

But when he approached it, the truck sped away, police said.

The truck was described as a mid-1990's blue Chevrolet truck, police said.

The theft was reported at 8:39 a.m. Monday, police said.
