LAWRENCE — Two community institutions have been granted Workforce Development grants, according to the office of state Rep. Frank Moran, D-Lawrence.

Northern Essex Community College, which has a campus in downtown Lawrence, was awarded $142,313 to provide training in leadership, management and supervisory skills, through June 30, 2020.

Imajine That was awarded $35,000 to provide training for profession/industry specific and technical skills, also through June 30, 2020.

The grants are provided through the Workforce Training Fund Small Business Direct Access Program, which supports the upgrading of skill programs for small business employees, enhancing the competitiveness and economic viability of these businesses.

“Each year I witness the Workforce Training grants benefiting tremendous training centers and small businesses in our community and around the Commonwealth. Imajine That and NECC are two such worthy recipients, and I look forward to seeing our community benefit and thrive from the various new skills training that will be possible through these grants,” Moran said in a statement.
