HAVERHILL — A woman was killed when her car crashed into woods off Interstate 495 north at 1:44 a.m. today.
The woman, whose name has yet to be released, was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta, just north of Route 97 (Exit 50) when she lost control, according to Trooper Kevin Bibeau. She was ejected from the car.
The high speed lane of I-495 south was closed for about one and a half hours following the crash, which is under investigation.

Armed man robs Salem 7-Eleven
SALEM — Police are looking for a masked gunman who robbed a 7-Eleven store today at 3 a.m. and brandished a black handgun.

Officers were called to the store at 108 Cluff Crossing Road right after the robbery. A store clerk told police the man, believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, propped the store door open with a pizza box, then brandished the handgun. -
Cop killer gets 1st NH death sentence in 49 years
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Convicted cop killer Michael Addison has received the first death sentence in New Hampshire in almost 50 years. Addison, 28, had no reaction as the Hillsborough County Superior Court jury announced its verdict after about 13 hours of deliberation. He was convicted last month of killing a Manchester police officer two years ago.
