LONDONDERRY - Olivia Konelas would probably make a good detective when she grows up.
The 8-year-old spotted her family's minivan Sunday night, four days after it was reported stolen from the parking lot at Londonderry Commons, where her parents own Cameron Chiropractic.
"I said to my mom, 'I think I see our van,'" said Olivia, a second-grader at Matthew Thornton Elementary School. She and her mother, Victoria Cameron, were on their way home from the Londonderry Shaw's to their Stonehenge Road home.
Olivia said she saw the van in the McDonald's parking lot, which is diagonally across Route 102 from Londonderry Commons.
"My mom wouldn't believe me," Olivia said.
"We turned onto Gilcreast Road and she kept insisting that she saw the van," Cameron said. "I finally gave in when she said the van she saw had gold-plating. Usually it's silver on these vans, but ours had gold."
Sure enough, Olivia was right.
The van was locked, and they peered in the windows.
"I saw my mom's hair scrunchies and some CDs," Olivia said. "There were also a few napkins thrown around."
The 2007 black Honda Odyssey was reported stolen from the parking lot of Londonderry Commons at 44 Nashua Road at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 9, said police Capt. Bill Hart. It was discovered Sunday at 7:40 p.m. Officer Joe Perry responded, and the vehicle was towed, processed and released to the family on Monday night.
Police have no suspects in the theft. The Camerons said they believe someone might have taken the van for a joy ride.
Nothing appeared to be missing, Paul Cameron said. He said his wife had parked the van and left it unlocked while she ran into their business to do a quick errand.
"It's amazing that she (Olivia) saw it," he said. "She's like that, though. If I change anything around in the house, she notices right away."
It was dark when Olivia spotted the van, but she said she was pretty certain it was her family's vehicle.
"I love that van," she said. "Especially the middle seat. It's just right for me, and it's comfortable."
