North Andover — Charles R. McCubbin, 89, of North Andover, died Saturday at his residence.
Charles was born in Lawrence on June 28,1924, to the late Thomas F. and Flora H.(Thiel) McCubbin.
He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII in the Pacific Theater, the Marshall and Mariana Islands and Okinawa.
Charles was employed by the town of North Andover, first in the DPW, and then, with the North Andover Police Department, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.
He enjoyed both hunting and fishing.
Charles is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Smith)McCubbin of North Andover; his son Richard McCubbin and his wife, Susan, of North Andover, and stepson, Robert Lagasse and his wife, Dawn, of Methuen; daughters, Karen McCubbin of Dameriscotta, Maine, Eileen Kenny and her husband, James, of Haverhill, and stepdaughter, Terese Turner of Rockport. Also among his survivors are his brother, Thomas McCubbin of Yuma Ariz.; and his sister, Janice Adams of Hesperia Calif.; as well as his 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Elinith Dorothea Daggar.
