Methuen — Edith E. Habib, 89, a former Methuen resident, died on Sunday July 28, 2013, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Edith moved to Odenton, Md., four years ago to be close to her family. Mrs. Habib retired from Converse Tyer Rubber Co. of Andover. While living in Maryland, she was a loyal attendant of Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church, and was also a member of New Hope Methodist Church, Methuen. Edith enjoyed making crocheted items for friends and family, and especially loved being around her family, and enjoyed going to her great great nephews’ baseball games and cheering them on to victory. She loved attending her church. Edith will be missed by all.

The widow of George S. Habib, her family members include her nieces, Carol A. (Bernard) Gilbert of Maryland, Sue A. (Bernard) Shreve of Arizona and Pamela (Merrill) Smith of New Hampshire. She also leaves her nephews, Warren Bernard Jr., of Maryland and Walter E. Bernard of Arizona. She also leaves behind great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lester and Charlotte (Atkinson) Merrill, and her brothers, Walter and Wilfred Merrill, and her sister, Gladys Bernard.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Friday, August 9, 2013, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., in New Hope Methodist Church, 10 Phillips Street, Methuen. Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m., in the church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
