Lawrence — Giuseppe “Joe” Ferrara, 74, of Lawrence died on Thursday November 14, 2013, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill, with his family by his side. Joe was born in Via Grande Sicily, Italy, and came to this country as a young man. Before retirement, he worked for over 40 years as a tailor for Grieco Brothers, Lawrence. More recently, he worked as a cook at Joseph’s Trattoria, Haverhill. Joe had a great passion for food and cooking, but nothing surpassed his love for his wife, Grace.
His family members include his wife of 50 years, Grace A. (Caruso) Ferrara of Lawrence; and his sister, Mary D’Amico of Methuen; sisters-in-law, Ann and her husband, James Abramo of Florida, and Joan and her husband, William Meagher of Lawrence; his brothers-in-law, Joseph and his wife, Josephine Caruso of Methuen, Stephen and his wife, Patricia Caruso of Pembroke, N.H., and Paul and his wife, Silvana Caruso of Methuen; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Gaetano and Orazia Ferrara; and his brother, Enzo.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Monday, November 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 19, at 10 a.m., in Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, Lawrence. Burial will be in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
