Lawrence — Grace T. (DeMarco) Valcanas, 88, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully Wednesday at Lawrence General Hospital following a brief illness. Grace was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Agnes (Filipon) DeMarco, and the widow of Charles Valcanas, who died in 2002.
Grace was educated and graduated from Lawrence High School, and worked for 36 years at Western Electric and later Lucent Technologies as a coil winder. Grace enjoyed reading, trips to Foxwoods, the beach, but her most cherished moments were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to personally thank the doctors, nurses and staff of H5 at Lawrence General Hospital for all their care and comfort towards Grace during her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Marian Glendye of Salem, NH; her grandchildren, Darryl Glendye of Louden, NH, Todd Glendye and his wife, Linda, of Litchfield, NH, and Andrea Kasprzak and her husband, Yori, of Windham, NH; her great-grandchildren, Erik, Brett, Ryan, Adam, Kyle Glendye, Haley, Nikolas, & Sean Kasprzak; and many nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her siblings, brothers, Leo DeMarco, Raymond DeMarco and her sister, Rita Cirelli.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 6, 2013, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral Mass will take place on Monday, October 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH. Interment will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
