Plymouth, NH — Joseph “Joe” Dallon, 89, of Salem, N.H., and longtime resident of Methuen, Mass., passed away on Friday August 30, 2013, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H.
Born and educated in Haverhill, Mass., he was the son of Joseph and Pauline (Krewscki) Dallon. He was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School. During World War II, Joe served as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the EAME Theatre Campaign Ribbon with seven Battle Stars, and was honorably discharged from service.
Joe retired in 1986, after 20 years as a district service manager with Volkswagen of America in Wilmington, Mass. Prior to that, he was employed with Harrison Park VW and West Street Motors in Lawrence.
He was a lifetime member of the Methuen Knights of Columbus, the VFW of Salem, N.H., an attendant of St. Monica’s Church, and a scout leader with the Cub and Boy Scouts. He was very active in the Town of Methuen, serving on several boards and councils.
Joe was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Josephine ( Kondracki) Dallon. He is survived by his children, Thomas Dallon and his wife, Roseanne, of Methuen, Kathleen Eaton and her husband, Richard, of Marco Island, Fla.; Philip Dallon and his wife, Sarah, of Rumney, N.H., Richard Dallon and his wife, Sandra, of Haverhill, and Judith Riopelle and husband, Mark, of Methuen; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was predeceased by his longtime companion, Daisy Grzejka.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01710. Family and friends are planning to gather on Friday from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with a burial in Elmwood Cemetery Methuen.
