Andover — L. Paul "Papa" Upson, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2013, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Home/Rehabilitation Center in Chelmsford, after a short illness.

Paul’s daughter, Mary, wants to express her appreciation and thanks for the exceptional care and comfort the staff at Sunny Acres provided Paul, Mary and her immediate family. His loving smile and warm heart will surely be missed. He was a man of simple taste and strong love of wife and family. Papa, we miss you.

Paul was born in Rensellier, N.Y. on November 21, 1921. Paul is now with his loving wife, Lucy, who passed away October 14, 1990. Paul is the oldest child of James and Lillian Upson. Paul is survived by his loving sister, Anne Frazer of Isle Perot, Canada, Anne and her husband, George send their prayers and warmest thoughts. Paul is also survived by his loving daughter, Mary Keefe, son-in-law, Brian Keefe and grandson, Michael Keefe of Westford, who cared for Paul for many years and truly miss his company. Paul is also survived by his son, Paul Upson his wife, Cindy Upson and his two other grandchildren, Garrett and Christopher all of N. Andover.

Paul served honorably during World War II for the Air Force in the Pacific. After the war, Paul attended the Albany School of Pharmacy. He owned and operated Upson’s Pharmacy of Andover for 27 years. His true joys were his wife, Lucy and enjoying time with his family on Cape Cod and Westford.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectively invited to attend visiting hours on Monday April 1, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at St. Lucy’s Church 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen. Burial at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
