Andover, MA — Richard Hardock, 76, of Andover, died peacefully Tuesday evening at his home in Tewksbury.

Rick was born in Reading, Pa., to the late Anna and Michael Hardock. He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in Pleasantville, N.J., and upon graduation Rick served his country in the U. S. Army. His time in the Army was spent in Fort Campbell, Ky., and Fort Gordon, Ga. He also went through jungle warfare training in Panama and was a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1958.

After his time in the Army, Rick attended George Washington University and majored in international affairs with a focus on Russian studies. He graduated in 1962.

After college, Rick went to work for the FBI. After his early years that included working on some major civil rights cases, he spent most of his time in the Foreign Counter Intelligence and Espionage division working against threats to U.S. national security. His distinguished career with the FBI as supervisory special agent included various accolades, culminating with a National Intelligence Medal of Achievement awarded by the director of the CIA for work in joint FBI-CIA counter intelligence activities.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy (Mathyer) Hardock of Tewksbury, Mass., and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Marlene Hardock, of Atlantic City, N.J. He is also survived by his three children and their spouses, Karen (Hardock) and Timothy Ross of Groton, Mass., Kim (Hardock) and Scott Johnson of Andover, and J. Michael and Jennifer Hardock of Andover, Mass. “Poppi” will be dearly missed by his eight grandchildren, Brenden, Connor, Jessica, Taylor, Zak, Ashley, Brooke and Riley.

ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Friday, April 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Conte Funeral Home, 28 Florence St., Andover. A memorial service will be held at the West Parish Cemetery Chapel in Andover, Mass., on Saturday, April 27, at 10 a.m.
