Kissimmee, FL — A. Gordon Kimball, 89, formerly of Hampstead and Haverhill, passed away on November 19, 2013, in Orlando, Fla. Gordon was the husband of Evelyn (Hanson) Kimball and the late Barbara Kimball.
Born in Haverhill on August 16, 1924, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Ella M. (Hanscomb) Kimball.
Gordon was a graduate of Haverhill High and Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1943. Following graduation, he worked in the printing industry before being drafted into the U.S. Army. As a member of the 91st Infantry Division, he served in Africa, Italy and Yugoslavia, and upon his discharge, his many awards included the Purple Heart. Gordon was employed at the former Western Electric, where he worked as a layout operator for 36 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church, where he served on various committees, Merrimack Lodge F.&A.M., Aleppo Shrine and Merrimack Valley Pioneers.
Besides his wife of 11 years, Gordon is survived by his daughters, Gail Palmer and her husband, Wesley, of Bradford, Susan Kimball of Atkinson, and Linda Garabedian of Salem, N.H.; grandchildren, Daniel and Stephanie Palmer, and Jeffrey and Melissa Garabedian; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Virginia “Ginger” Kimball, Jean Cote and Charles Kimball.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral on Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, will be on Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m.
