Andover — Rosario J. “Cy” Tine, 80, of Andover died on Friday September 14, 2012 at Wingate at Andover. Mr. Tine was born, raised and educated in Lawrence and lived in Greater Lawrence all of his life. He worked for many years in the local shoe industry and retired from Raytheon Company, Andover. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. “Cy” was an active member of the Methuen seniors. He spent a lot of time advocating for the elderly in any way he could. He was a participant with The Happy Heart Singers of both Methuen and Salem, N.H. Seniors. He enjoyed traveling, especially taking road trips. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
One of nine children, his family members include his sons, Robert and his wife, Deborah Tine and Richard Tine and his longtime friend, Greg Bilak. He leaves his brothers, Albert and his wife, Terry Tine and Michael Tine and his sister, Marie Hanson and sister-in-law, Carmella “Millie” Tine. He also leaves his longtime friend, Ellie Dion and his former wife, Nancy Henderson. “Cy” has four grandchildren, Cory Tine, Jennifer Noble and Erik and Nathan Tine, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be on Friday September 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. at The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday in St. Michaels Church, N. Andover. Burial will follow in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
