Tempe, Ariz. — Mark J. McDermott, 53, a former Andover resident died in his home in Tempe, Ariz. He was born in Lowell and graduated from Austin Prep, Merrimack College, and earned two master degrees from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and S.U.N.Y., Albany in Criminal Justice. He had also matriculated for his PhD.
While living locally, Mark worked at the Andover Police department for seven years. He then moved to Tempe, Ariz. where he worked for the past 20 years. He retired as a research and statistical unit manager for the Arizona Supreme Court.
He is survived by his parents, Henry J and Judith C ( Sullivan) Mc Dermott; a sister, Maureen, wife of Mark Alterio; a niece Maeve; a nephew, Shea all of North Andover and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to memorial visitation on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 1-3 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St, North Andover. Friends are also invited to memorial services at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, also on Sunday. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery at a later date.
