Haverhill — Mary Rose Gallo, 81, was surrounded by her loving family as she passed away peacefully on Monday morning, November 12, 2012 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill. She was born on February 14, 1931 in Lawrence, Massachusetts and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Madeline (Girard) Borrelli. Mary lived most of her life in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School. She worked at several electronics firms including Western Electric and Wang Labs. She was an avid 45’s player and loved to travel with her sisters and friends.
Mary was the devoted mother of Judith Alaimo of Haverhill and Paul Gallo of Barre. She was the adoring grandmother to Jennifer Hallisey, wife of Joseph Hallisey of Pepperell, Massachusetts, Ivy Bergquist of Maine, and Corey Gallo of Massachusetts. Mary was blessed to have five great-grandchildren, Madelyn Rose and Isabelle Marie Hallisey, Mitchell and Mikayla Bergquist and Jackson Gallo. Mary is survived by one sister, Dorothy Gagne, wife of Roland Gagne, who was Mary’s lifelong best friend. She is survived by sixteen nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her sister Shirley Ingeme, brothers Vincent and Robert Borrelli.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sarah’s Place in Haverhill, Massachusetts would be appreciated. This adult day facility provided Mary several years of outstanding care and companionship which allowed her to remain living at home with her daughter in Haverhill. The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the Academy Manor Nursing Home staff, especially her nurses Joyce Gosselin and Kareen Gilbert as well as CNA’s Diobelka Presial and Elina Peguero whose care and attention allowed Mary to live in dignity during the past three years.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Cataudella Funeral Home 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen. A celebration of Mary’s life at a Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St. Lawrence.
