Glastonbury, CT, formerly of Lawrence — Michael J. Nastasia, 86, of Glastonbury, Conn., formerly of Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born in Lawrence, and was the son of the late Primiano and Rose (Bascio) Nastasia.
Mr. Nastasia was raised and educated in Lawrence. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, and attended Northeastern University, where he received a Bachelor and Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
He worked as an engineer for General Electric in Lynn, then relocated to Ohio, where he worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was selected to attend the U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania, and graduated before relocating to Glastonbury, Conn. After his retirement from the government, he became a licensed realtor for Century21 in Glastonbury. He was an avid reader and used to spend his days at the library. He was also an active member of the Glastonbury Senior Center, where he sometimes played the drums in the band. Mr. Nastasia was a W.W. II, U.S. Navy veteran, and was an active member of the Navy Band. No matter where he was living, he and his wife always came back to Massachusetts for every holiday and family occasion as their No. 1 priority was family.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorraine (Faris) Nastasia, and his brothers, Vito, and Anthony Nastasia.
Mr. Nastasia is survived by his sisters, Mary A. Mambro of North Andover, and Josephine Nastasia of Methuen; his niece, Toni Burke and her husband, Paul, of Methuen; and his grand-nieces, Ashlee and Victoria Burke.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence.
