Rita L. 'Betty' Kelley, 89

New Hampshire — Rita L. "Betty" Kelley, 89 of Hampton, formerly of Malden, Mass., died on December 13, 2013, surrounded by her devoted family at Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, after a brave battle with cancer.

Betty was born in Malden, Mass., on December 6, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Daniel A. and Marguerite (Lyons) Lee. She resided in Malden until 1985, whereupon she became a permanent resident of Hampton.

In 1950, Betty married the love of her life, the late Robert L. Kelley, and spent 44 years together raising their four daughters until his death in 1994.

Betty was known for her loving demeanor, amazing sense of humor, generosity and ever-present, fashionable appearance. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.

She was also a longtime member of Abenaqui Country Club where she "stormed" the golf course, and was an avid "card shark."

She is survived by her daughters, Betty A. Blake and Nancy L. Kelley of Hampton, Mary Beth Doherty and her husband, Jay, of Andover, Mass., Ann M. Saldi and her husband, Frank, of Framingham, Mass.; grandchildren, Matthew, Caitlin and Tripp Doherty, Bobby and Frankie Saldi; and many nieces and nephews, who were so very special to her.

In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brother, Daniel G. Lee.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, December 17, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home–Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m.,on Wednesday, December 18, at St. Theresa Church, 815 Central Road, Rye Beach. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Rye. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
