Robert B. Masera, 67

Haverhill — Robert B. Masera, 67, died on Sunday, December 15, at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, after suddenly being stricken ill at home.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Joseph J. and Patricia B. (Whitehead) Masera. He attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1964.

Mr. Masera had many different jobs over his lifetime. He had worked as a truck driver early on, but was most passionate and skilled as an auto mechanic. Over the years, he worked for various auto shops throughout Haverhill.

Robert was a hard-working man, who lived to better his family, often advising his children to “work smarter, not harder.” When he was not hard at work, he enjoyed staying in and spending time with his children and grandchildren. An avid sports fan, he liked rooting for the home teams, especially the New England Patriots.

He leaves his companion of 18 years, Wanda Manning; a son, Robert J. Masera and his wife, Crystal, of Atkinson, N.H.; three daughters, Kimberly Vaillant and her husband, Michael, of Newton, N.H., Debra Cahill and her husband, Joseph, of Haverhill, Krystina McKinney and her husband, Paul, also of Haverhill; eight cherished grandchildren, Braden Masera, Cody Vaillant, Megan Cahill, Amanda Cahill, Casey Cahill, Joseph Cahill, Kayla McKinney, and Kiana McKinney; sister-in-law, Julie Masera, of Florida; and a niece, Terri Cicale and her husband, Gary Cicale of East Hampstead, N.H. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Masera.
