Naimy Lees, 93


Methuen — Naimy (Gabour) Lees, 93, of Methuen, died on Saturday December 14, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill

Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Habib and Melvina (Abourjaily) Gabour. She graduated from Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1938. Naimy was the wife of the late Walter H. Lees, who died in 1979. She was predeceased by her two children, Walter A. Lees who died in 2009, and Elizabeth Lees Buell, who died in 1996. She was a caring sister to five brothers, including the late Harry, Samuel, James, Michael, and Louis Gabour.

Naimy was a longtime member of St. Anthony Maronite Church, Lawrence. She was employed at The Internal Revenue Service Center, Andover, for 20 years, and retired in 1980. After her retirement, Naimy began her second career as a volunteer at Caritas Holy Family Hospital, Methuen. She volunteered at the hospital for 35 years. She was also a member of several service organizations, including The Arlington Neighborhood Association and the Methuen Senior Center. In 2004, Naimy was recognized by the Exchange Club and was presented the Book of Golden Deeds Award for her volunteer work at Holy Family Hospital.

She loved her family and friends. She was known for her great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking for others. She was a cheerful giver, and served God by serving others with joy.

Naimy is survived by her daughter-in-law, son-in-law, two sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and several godchildren.

ARRANGEMENTS: The family will be planning a visitation and funeral Mass, which will be announced in the Spring of 2014.
