LAWRENCE — Rubi A. Ramos, 87, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at Kindred Hospital Boston North Shore, after a period of declining health.
He was the husband of Mrs. Genobeva (Ventura Diaz) Ramos of Lawrence, his devoted wife of 60 years.
A native of Tamboril, Santiago, Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Emilio Rafael Ramos and Carmela (Ramos) Ramos.
Prior to retirement in 1986, he was employed for many years as a butcher in the supermarket industry. At that time he and Mrs. Ramos came to area to be closer to family.
Mr. Ramos’ legacy speaks of the value system he lived by of service above self. He was concerned with the needs of many, as he provided hot cups of coffee, supplies, or other assistance to many in his native country.
He leaves his family memories of good principles as an excellent husband, father and good provider to be continued by his descendants.
In addition to his loving wife, family members include six sons, Domingo A. Ramos, Antonio A. Ramos, Luis Ramos, Emilio Ramos, Rubi Ramos, Rubi Radames Ramos; two daughters, Fiordaliza Ramos and Juana Ramos; 27 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; many nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be from The Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, opposite St. Patrick Church, South Lawrence.
Calling hours will be today, Monday, December 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. Final acts of farewell and laying to rest will follow on Tuesday, December 31, in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence. Condolences may be offered at www.diazhealyfuneralhome.com.
