Bath, Maine — Virginia (Anderson) Ferris, 82, of Bath, Maine, passed away peacefully at Parkland Medical Center, in Derry, N.H., on Friday, December 27, 2013, with her family by her side.
Virginia, “Ginny,” was born on May 11, 1931, in Gardiner, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence Anderson of Richmond, Maine. Ginny graduated from Richmond High School and attended Farmington College, where she met and married the love of her life, Melvin D. Ferris Jr. Together they raised three children while living in Massachusetts, and after Ginny retired from a career in real estate in 1986, they moved back to Mel’s childhood home in Bath.
Ginny was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Bath. She was also a devoted volunteer at the MidCoast Medical Center in Brunswick. She was always helping others in any way that she could.
In addition to her predeceased husband, Melvin Ferris, she is survived by three children, her son, Carl Ferris and his wife, Veda, of Woolwich, Maine; daughters, Nancy Sullivan and her husband, Brian, of Londonderry, N.H., and Marcia DiDio and her husband, Mark, of Methuen, Mass.; and six adoring grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a memorial donation in Ginny’s name be made to The First Methodist Church, 340 Oak Grove Ave., Bath, Maine 04530.
