LAWRENCE — Alcibiades Cabrera, 76, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014, at Lawrence General Hospital, after a period of declining health.
He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Elvira Cabrera, his wife of 33 years.
A native of Villa Tapia, Dominican Republic, he was born on September 14, 1937, and was the son of the late Pedro Cabrera and Francisca German.
In 1978, he came to America with great hopes and aspirations for his children, and to make a better life for himself.
Mr. Cabrera will be remembered as a loving and exemplary father, and will always be present and forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
In his spare time, he followed baseball and enjoyed playing dominoes.
In addition to his devoted wife; he was the proud father of three daughters, Idalina Cabrera, Yvette Cabrera, Judit Cabrera; two sons, Emmanuel Cabrera, Brian Cabrera; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Elcita and Estela Cabrera; and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral from The Diaz-Healy Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, South Lawrence. Calling hours on Friday, January 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m., in St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, Lawrence. Final acts of farewell and laying to rest will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lawrence.
