Lloyd "Joe" Bunker


Merrimac — Lloyd “Joe” Bunker, age 82, a lifelong Merrimac resident, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, October 23, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Merrimac, May 24, 1930, he was one of seven children of the late Melvin and Eleanor (Hoyt) Bunker and had attended Merrimac schools.

He worked at Merrimac Metal for 23 years, retiring from Metal Tronics in Haverhill at age 67, but continued to stay active working odd jobs. Throughout his life, Joe was an avid gardener.

In addition to his devoted wife of 58 years, Claire S. (Banks) Bunker of Merrimac, he is survived by two children, Pat Lundin and husband Douglas of Merrimac and Neil and wife Marilyn of Stratford, N.H.; six grandchildren, Jason of Sandown, N.H.; Meredith of Pembroke, N.H.; Marci Lundin, Marc and wife Dawn and Mindy Barbrick and husband Gregg, all of Haverhill; and Ashley of Maine; five great-grandchildren, Brittney, Andrew, Megan, Mila and Eva; two great-great-grandsons, Kingston and Drew; two sisters, Shirley Roy of Seabrook, N.H., and Muriel Eaton and husband Sonny of East Wakefield, N.H.; along with several generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Dorothy Benjamin, Bertha Soucy, Barbara Doucette and Melvin Bunker Jr.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Friday, October 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services at the funeral home will be Saturday at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
