Haverhill — Charlie, a kind, thoughtful, generous man, passed peacefully with many who cared for him by his side at Wingate at Haverhill. They were an extension of his family for more than the past six years while he fought the battles of Alzheimer’s and Cancer. He resided in Groveland for more than 70 years.
He was born in Winchester, MA, to Mildred C. (Cole) Lavault and J.S. Gilmore. His home was with his mother and stepfather, Joseph E. Levault in Groveland. For more than 65 years he was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish, So. Groveland.
He was educated in Haverhill as well as Orleans, VT, where he graduated high school. He went on to attend two Boston colleges. For over 40 years he was employed as a Storekeeper for the former Western Electric from where he retired.
His interests include photography, where he was frequently seen with his camera hanging from his neck. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and was an avid walker. His hobbies also included oil painting as well as genealogy. Charlie especially enjoyed sharing the holidays with his family in Groveland.
His survivors include his sister, Beverly (Levault) Cotton and her husband, Vern, of Groveland; his niece, Vicki; nephew, Craig; great-nephew, Ryan, all of Groveland; great-nephews, Patrick J. and Christopher A. of Milford, NH. He was predeceased by his nephew, Chris L. Cotton in 2012. Charlie also had two half brothers, Philip Gilmore of Florida and Dr. Norbert Gilmore of Montreal, Canada.
