Salem, NH — Mary E. (Plummer) Trela, 89 of Salem, N.H., died on Thursday at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen, Mass. She was born in Lawrence, Mass., and grew up and was educated in North Andover, Mass., and graduated from North Andover High School. She was a resident of Salem for 50 years. Mary was a file clerk for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover. She was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II. She enjoyed crafting, bingo, music, and her grandkids, and loved her cat. “Buffy.” She was predeceased by her husband, John S. Trela; her daughter, Sharon Ashford; her brother, William Smith; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth Lord. She is survived by her son, Stanley and his wife, Crystal Trela of Salem; daughters, Sandra Compton of New Hampshire, Susan and her husband, Harry Scott of Salem, Mari-Ellen and her husband, Christopher Duffy of Methuen, Mass., Rebecca and her husband, Douglas Lloyd of Salem, Patricia and her husband, Francis Paris of Salem, Jennifer Trela of Salem, Susan Lapierre of Salem; sister, Margaret Potter of Cranston, R.I.; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held Monday, August 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
