Haverhill — Emanuel C. Brigandi, 90, died peacefully on Saturday, August 24, 2013, in the Merrimack Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Sosinsky) Brigandi, with whom he was married to for 65 years.
Born in Somerville on December 17, 1922, he was the son of the late Santo and Amelia (Diminico) Brigandi. He attended Somerville High School. Emanuel had lived in Haverhill for the past 15 years, and had previously resided in Somerville for 75 years. He was self-employed until the age of 75 as a carpenter and home remodeler.
In his spare time, his favorite hobby was scratch model boat building. Emanuel spent many hours researching on how to exactly replicate the piece he was working on at the time. It was extremely detailed, intricate and time-consuming work that involved significant concentration to capture the essence of every detail of the actual boat. He was most proud of his 5-foot replica of the USS Constitution.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, David Brigandi and his wife, Jerri, Martha Volovick and her husband, Ken, Joseph Brigandi and his wife, Hannah, and Ruthie Aylward; six grandchildren, Alyse, Alex, Michael, Nikki, Zoe, and Ollie; a sister, Margaret Martin; and brothers, Basil and Alfred Brigandi. He was also predeceased by his son, John Brigandi, and his son-in-law, Richard Aylward.
