Salem, NH — Emile A. Deschene, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Salem Haven Rehabilitation Center, Salem N.H. He was born on October 17, 1928, in Methuen, Mass., where he was raised and educated. He was the son of the late George and Adelia Deschene, and the youngest of seven brothers and sisters.
Emile was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II, and worked at Bolton Emerson, Lawrence, Mass., for 32 years, retiring from Raytheon. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Elks and Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included dancing, bowling and working outdoors.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years of marriage, Marcelle (LeBlanc) Deschene; son, Robert Deschene and his wife, Penny, of Pelham, N.H.; son, Donald Deschene and his wife, Michelle, of Manchester, N.H.; and daughter, Donna Hewson and her husband, Ronald, of Pelham. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, February 6, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Goundrey & Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main St., Salem. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., on Friday, February 7, at St. Patrick’s Church, 12 Main Street, Pelham. Burial will be in the Gibson Cemetery, Pelham.
