Fairfield, CT — Edmund “Ned” Burke, 47, of Fairfield, Conn., beloved husband of Michele (Carpentier) Burke, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, after an eight-year battle with brain cancer. Ned was born on November 23, 1966, in Hartford, and raised in Wethersfield. He was the son of Edmund and Gertrude (Carroll) Burke of Pocasset, Mass. He graduated from Xavier High School in 1985, Fairfield University in 1989, and received his MBA from Fordham in 1999. Ned had a 15-year career in corporate communications/investor relations with AIG in New York City. Although a Connecticut native, Ned had his roots in Lawrence. His paternal great-grandparents, Edmund Burke and Ellen (Healy) Burke, emigrated from County Tipperary to Lawrence in 1890. His grandfather, Edmund Burke, graduated from Lawrence High School in 1930, and his father, Edmund Burke, graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952. Ned had a love of sports, especially golf and the Boston Red Sox, and found great joy in bringing friends together. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife and children. Besides his wife and parents, Ned is survived by his children, Michael and Mia Burke of Fairfield; and a brother, Jonathan Burke of Avon, Conn.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, at 10 a.m., directly at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield, Conn. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, February 7, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
