Donald Baron, 87

West Palm Beach, FL — Donald F. Baron, 87, of West Palm Beach, Fla., died on Friday, January 31, after an extended illness.

Born in Methuen, Don was raised in Lawrence, where he attended the public schools.

After high school graduation, Don joined the Navy, serving as a radio technician during WWII.

When he returned home, he used that training in the growing market of home television repair, and soon founded Baron’s TV in Lawrence. Over the years, Don worked diligently to help the company grow, expanding into appliance sales and service and moving the company to Salem, N.H. He was active in the local business community and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce.

Don loved life and lived it fully. He enjoyed flying his Luscomb two-seater plane, spending his summers on Lake Winnisquam, N.H., having his family around him for a cookout or boating trip, skiing with his brother, Ray, and his many nieces and nephews, and taking “the kids” to ballgames and out for meals. “Uncle Don” was a very generous and caring uncle, who touched the lives of everyone he came into contact with.

Don retired to Florida 25 years ago, and resided in Bear Island in West Palm Beach.

He lived a healthy lifestyle and kept physically fit. He was an avid golfer along with his brother, Fred.

Don was a parishioner of Mary Immaculate Church in West Palm Beach, where he was an active member of the community. His charitable work extended to both family and to the many foundations he helped to support.

He is survived by his sister, Shirley Souter of Salem, N.H., his brother and business partner, Raymond (wife, Phyllis) of Laconia, N.H.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Ellis; his brothers, Russell and Fred Baron; and his nephew, Chuck Souter.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services will be held in West Palm Beach, on Monday, February 10, with calling hours on Sunday, February 9.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL, 33407, or to the charity of your choice.
