Martha A. (Rea) Toscano, 74

Haverhill — Martha A. (Rea) Toscano, 74, of Haverhill, passed away at her residence December 28, 2012. She was born in Worcester, April 12, 1938, daughter of the late, Gertrude Swanson Sykes.

Martha Toscano graduated from St. Ann’s High School in the Worcester area and pursued higher education, earning her masters degree from Boston University and becoming a licensed social worker. She was the director at the Gilead House in association with Emmaus Inc, from which she retired. Upon her retirement, Martha Toscano volunteered at Common Ground Ministries with New Life Christian Assembly of God. She enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and bird watching. She was also an avid reader.

She was the wife of the late, Carl J. Toscano who died in 1999, and the mother of the late, Jennifer M. Toscano who died in 1994.

Her survivors include three daughters, Nancy Levesque of Naples, Fla., Suzanne M. Ritter of Haverhill and Valerie R. Toscano of Amesbury; five grandchildren, Robert, Renee and Ryan Levesque, David Ritter and Kate Carleton; two great-grandchildren, Alanna and Cameron Carleton.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service Sunday, January 20 at 3 p.m. at New Life Christian Assembly of God, 966 Main St., Haverhill. Entombment will be at the Elmwood Mausoleum, Bradford. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill & Bradford.
