Salisbury — Bertha A. (Bilodeau) Desmond, 85, died Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport.
She was born May 20, 1927 in Lawrence, the daughter of the late, Wilfred and Amelia (Bilodeau) Bibeau. Bertha was raised in Lawrence and lived in Salisbury for over 60 years. She retired from Western Electric/AT & T of Andover and had worked as a bartender at the Clover Club and Club Edwards in Salisbury. She loved going to the beach, sun bathing, dancing; but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in Zephyrhills, Fla.
Family members include her best friend and lifelong companion of over 60 years, Charles L. Papoulias of Salisbury; her daughter, Maureen (Desmond) Russell of Seabrook, N.H.; her son, Stephen W. Desmond, Sr. of Salisbury;, her sister, Eleanor Radwich of Lawrence; her grandchildren, Matthew C. Russell, of Seabrook, N.H., Melissa Russell-Fuller and her husband, John of Drumchapel, Scotland, UK, Kimberly Desmond and Stephen Desmond, Jr. and his wife, Heather; and her great-grandchildren, Serenity and Tabitha Desmond.
ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of Bertha’s life will be held from 12 – 3 P.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her home, 3 Gove Lane, Salisbury. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
