North Andover — Laurence Patrick Melia Sr. of North Andover, Born December 1, 1941, died January 27, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the son of the late Edward G. and Kathleen E. (Shannon) Melia.

Growing up in Lawrence, he was educated at St. Laurence’s Parochial School and Central Catholic High School. He then went on to graduate from Boston College and Villanova Law School. He served his community as a lawyer and teacher for many years, making a difference in the lives of countless people. He loved coaching baseball, and was a passionate Red Sox fan. He loved cooking and gardening with as much passion. A devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he made an imprint on so many hearts with his gentle touch and compassion towards all.

Survived by his loving wife, Jane F. (Hallice) Melia, of North Andover; daughter, Caroline Melia and Carl McManus of Boston; daughter ,Kathleen Melia of North Andover; son, Kevin Melia of Boston; son, Laurence Melia Jr. of Boston; grandson, Benjamin Melia of North Andover; sister, Margaret (Melia) Kleven of Salem; brother, Edward G. Melia and his wife, Jayne of Redondo Beach, Calif.; brother, Robert Mason and his wife, Doris of Andover; brother in-law, Thomas Middleton of Andover; sister-in-law, Frances Melia of Andover; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Brother of the late, Mary Frances (Melia) Middleton of Andover, Martin J. Melia of Andover, Kathleen E. Melia of North Andover, uncle of the late Martin J. Melia Jr. of Andover.

ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church in North Andover. A burial will follow in the Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
