Warren Ross, 84

Hampstead, N.H. — Warren Kenneth Ross, of Hampstead, N.H., died in his home on January 23. Warren was born in Haverhill, the son of Leroy C. Ross of Malone, N.Y., and Tamam (Yazgie) George of Beirut, Syria (now Lebanon). He graduated from Haverhill High School and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948, as an Aerographer's Mate Third Class. He married Barbara Carr of Haverhill, with whom he had a daughter, Stephanie and a son, Warren Jr. He worked on a logging crew for Esty Lumber in Groveland before becoming a Haverhill firefighter. During this time, with his own hands, Warren built a house for his family on North Avenue, Haverhill. Then, Western Electric, in North Andover, became Warren's employer for several years, during which time the family moved to a Colonial farm in West Hampstead, N.H.

Not long after this move, Warren worked for the Continental Can Company after which he settled into a long and happy position as Purchasing Agent for Process Engineering, Plaistow, N.H. 1979 was a big year, Warren married Ethel Hoyt Consalvi, and retired to establish Warren K. Ross, Inc. In this solo entrepreneurial effort he designed, patented, and manufactured a portable sawmill, the Ross Bandmill, which became a success and kept him very busy until he eventually sold the business so he could pursue his love of travel. His many expeditions covered six continents and included a bicycle tour of Scotland, a coast-to-coast motorcycle tour of Australia, and a trek to the Mt. Everest Base Camp in Nepal.

Warren was a past President of the Haverhill Rotary Club, past Director and Recording Secretary of the Haverhill YMCA, and a long-time member of the Haverhill Monday Evening Club.

Warren's friends, work colleagues, and fellow club members can confirm that he was a talented and unique humorist. And his vegetable gardening skills were unsurpassed. He was a loving father and a caring and generous neighbor, always ready to help with home repair, car repair, or any task, the more strenuous or difficult the better.

Warren is survived by his sister, Betsy Langlois (husband, Bill) of East Hampstead, N.H.; daughter, Stephanie Ross of Washington, D.C. (husband, Dallas Salisbury); son, Warren Ross Jr. of Wellesley (wife, Ann Butterworth); stepdaughter, Cheryl Driscoll (husband, Tom) of Harwich and children, Dana, Michael, and Elise; stepdaughter, Donna Consalvi of Sandown, N.H.; stepdaughter, Nancy Joseph of Danville, N.H. (husband, Peter) and children, Peter Jr. and Leah (husband, Tim Reardon) and daughter, Gabriella Reardon; and stepdaughter, Margaret McGaffigan (husband, James) of Winchester and children, Christianna and Isabella.

ARRANGEMENTS: There will be visiting hours at Dole & Childs Funeral Home, 148 Main St, Haverhill, on Thursday, February 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Flowers are not necessary.

Georgetown, MA — Edgar Norton Johnson, 81, of Georgetown, Mass., passed away peacefully at his home with his beloved wife and family by his side on June 17, 2013. Ted wrote in a journal years ago, "Although I am a religious man, I have found my heaven here on earth with my wife and family." All of his family and friends felt the same way about life with Ted. He first fell in love with his wife, Faith when he saw her dancing in a class at Tufts University, and for the next 60 years cherished his marriage to the most beautiful woman he ever saw.

The daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia (Berardini) Grassi, she was born on March 29, 1922, and was educated in the Haverhill School System. A member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1941, she attended the Fasio Beauty School and was a beautician in the Haverhill area for over 40 years. Her most recent employment was with her dear friend, Mary Pauline Wyka at Andrea’s Beauty Salon in Plaistow.

Parmelia 'Pat' Stoughton Willard de Winter, 80

Boxford — Parmelia "Pat" Stoughton Willard de Winter passed away June 15, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a short illness. Born in Hartford, Conn., on November 23, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Howard A. Willard and Virginia McCray Miller Willard. Pat, or Patsy as she was known then, was raised in Wethersfield and West Hartford. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Palmer Southworth Willard, her youngest brother William Leslie Willard and her older brother, John Bleveny Willard.

She attended Somerville High School, and was a supervisor for Sears Roebuck, a secretary at Andover Memorial Library, and was the manager and a bookkeeper for the Andover Thrift Shop for many years.

Atkinson, NH — Peter T. Giuvelis, 89, of Atkinson, N.H., passed away on Monday, June 17, at Salemhaven, in Salem, N.H. He was born in Lowell on September 15, 1923, to the late Theodore and Virginia (Melonas) Tzouvelis. Peter was raised and educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School. Upon graduating, he served in the U.S. Army during WW II. After serving in the military, Peter co-owned and worked as a technician for Guvelis Bros., located on Emerson St. in Haverhill. In retirement, Peter served as school crossing guard at Walnut Square School in Haverhill.

Methuen — Debby passed away peacefully on Sunday at The Merrimack Valley Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Luigi and Marie Perrino of Reading, Mass. She enjoyed working with the elderly and any activity that would involve her family, which included going out for dinner, shopping, and spending time with the grandchildren. Her surviving family members include her loving children, Lisa O'Keefe and husband, Christopher of Raymond, N.H., Jennifer Pardoen and husband, David of Methuen, Mass.; and grandchildren, Abbey and Zoe, Pardoen and Zachary and Madison Laliberte. She leaves behind brothers, Luis Perrino and wife, Linda of Peabody, Mass., and Earle Perrino of New Hampshire. Debby also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Irene Golden, 86

Groveland, MA — Irene (Belanger) Golden, 86, of Groveland, formerly of Lawrence and North Andover, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 15, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Emile and Leda (Matton) Belanger, and was one of nine children. Irene was a graduate of the former McIntosh Business School in Lawrence, and later was employed by the Textile Workers Union CIO for 10 years, prior to staying home to raise her family. Upon returning to the business world, she was employed as the administrative assistant to the president of the former Arlington Trust Company in Lawrence. She retired in 1987, after 26 years of service, and spent her later years making quilts for her family, friends and homeless shelters.

Joseph was born in Brazil and raised in Newark, N.J., after his family emigrated from Portugal. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an engineer with Raytheon Service Co., and upon retiring in his 70s, he enjoyed gardening, yard and barn work at the house, reading, PBS programming, classical music, art, politics, history, and sports. In recent years, he was a resident of the Osher Inn of Portland, Maine.
