Pepperell, formerly of Dracut — Claire Marie Farrington, daughter of Albert Gaudette and Fleurette Coderre, 76, of Pepperell, and former longtime resident of Dracut, died Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2013 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by family. She was the devoted wife of Leo F. Farrington.
She was born in Lowell, on August 4, 1936 and raised in Dracut. She attended Ste. Jean d’Arc School in Lowell, St. Theresa’s in Dracut, and later attended St. Joseph’s high school in Lowell. She then attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and received her L.P.N. in 1957. She received her R.N. at Middlesex Community College in 1980. She then continued her education at Fitchburg State College attending part time while working as an Occupational Health Nurse at Wang Laboratories, until she obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling. She was a lifelong learner. Mrs. Farrington worked as a nurse for her entire working career, and just recently retired.
She was an active, vibrant, loving person who helped and cared for people throughout her life. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She loved singing and music of all types. She sang in various choral groups as an alto, including the Salem Choral Society, which is conducted by her brother, Bob Gaudette. She loved exercising and staying healthy. She attended water aerobics and enjoyed daily walks outside. She loved all animals especially horses and dogs. She was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and TOPS, and attended the YMCA. She was a devout member of the Catholic Church. For 31 years, she has been a friend of Bill W’s. She loved her family, friends, and life itself.
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Leo. F. Farrington; her six children, James Raymond Poirier and wife, Kathleen of Hollis, N.H., David Edward Poirier of Yulee, Fla., JoAnn Poirier Daigle of Portland, Mainew, Roberta Anne Curtis and husband, Michael Curtis of Pelham, N.H, Melissa Jean Poirier of Amelia Island, Fla., and John Gerard Poirier and wife, Debra of Merrimack, N.H.; step-daughte, Maureen Farrington of Manchester, N.H.; two brothers, Robert Gaudette and wife, Pauline of Salem, N.H., Albert Gaudette and wife Jean of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Theresa Elliott of Pepperell; many nieces and nephews; 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
