Arlene M. Gaudette, 73

Haverhill, MA — Arlene M. Gaudette, age 73, of Haverhill and formerly of Hampstead, NH passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 31, 2013 in Haverhill.

Arlene, known lovingly as “Earl the Pearl” by her family, was born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Joseph and Beatrice (Cormier) Gaudette. She grew up in the Smiley School section of Haverhill, attended Haverhill public schools and graduated Haverhill High School with the Class of 1958.

Following high school Arlene went to work at Western Electric, now Lucent Technologies, where she took pride in her work; first on the bench, then as an Inspector, and retired as a Supervisor in gold plating. After retiring she kept in touch with the Pioneers, attending their annual lunch and catching up with former coworkers.

Arlene was a die-hard Red Sox fan who loved to attend a game at Fenway when she had the opportunity. She almost never missed watching a game! Arlene moved to Haverhill very recently from Hampstead, NH, where she left many friends and neighbors. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with them at this year's block party. Arlene was an avid bowler and card player for much of her life and had recently started bowling again on Thursday mornings in a league with one of her Hampstead friends. Arlene was a faithful member and supporter of All Saints Parish and attended Mass regularly.

Traveling to faraway places was something Arlene always enjoyed and her travels took her to Hawaii, the Vatican and Ireland as well as many places in the U.S.

Arlene is survived by her sisters, Audrey Cook, of Norwood, MA and Judith Paquette and her husband Daniel, of Center Ossipee, NH and Summerfield, FL; her sister-in-law, Sandra Gaudette, of Merrimac, MA; her nieces and nephews, Michael Cook, David Cook, Jennifer Jakubasz; Rebecca DelRosso, Christina Goudreault, Monica Riley, Erika Pearson and Daniel J. Paquette; Cindy Torosian, Pam Esposito, Julie Brennan, and Jeanne Marie Bockus, and their families, including many grandnieces and grandnephews and several cousins. She was also predeceased by her loving brother, Edward, and by her brother-in-law, Raymond Cook, both of whom she loved dearly. She was also a lover of cats and leaves two behind, Rosie and Annie.
