St. Petersburg, FL — Thomas M. Nastasia, 92, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Lawrence, and a retired Lawrence Police Chief, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Largo Medical Center. He was born in Lorraine, Ohio, and was the son of the late Michael and Dominica (DeFusco) Nastasia.
Mr. Nastasia was raised and educated in Lawrence. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, attended Babson College, and was a graduate of Lowell University.
Before he worked as a police officer, Mr. Nastasia worked in the Woodmills. He worked for 45 years as a Lawrence Police officer and retired as the Lawrence Police Chief.
Mr. Nastasia was a W.W.II veteran and served with the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the D.A.V. and Lawrence Police Association. He enjoyed playing music, bowling, and golf.
Mr. Nastasia is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mary (DeCesare) Nastasia; his sons, Doctor, Thomas V. Nastasia and his wife Kathleen of Centerville, MA, and Ronald A. Nastasia of North Andover, and his grandchildren, Thomas M. Nastasia of Maryland, Nicholas R. and Chanelle K. Nastasia both of Centerville, MA, and Serena A. Nastasia of North Andover. There are also several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
