Andover — Eleanor M. (Hanley) Cowhey, 90, of Andover, formerly of Cape Cod and North Andover, died on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Prescott House in North Andover. She was the wife of the late John J. Cowhey.
Born in Malden, Mass., on March 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Pauline (Driscoll) Hanley. She was raised in Malden and attended Malden Catholic High School. Eleanor worked for Raytheon Company in Andover for 25 years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she always had a wonderful sense of humor. Eleanor enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and she loved to travel. She had been a resident of Andover for 40 years and a member of St. Michael’s Church. She also attended St. Theresa’s Church in North Reading.
Family members include her loving daughters, Patricia Coppeta and her husband, Robert, of North Andover and Linda Fogel of North Reading; and her sister, Claire Boudreau and her husband, Fran, of Fort Myers, Fla. She was the sister of the late Leonard, Robert and John Hanley, Marion Zenoby and Pauline Dubois. She is also survived by five grandchildren, David Coppeta and wife, Susan, of Atkinson N.H., Jonathan Coppeta and wife, Jodi, of Windham, N.H., Donna Sheehan and husband, Michael, Deborah Perrone and husband, Michael, all of Foxboro, and Jeanine Bandecchi and husband, Keith, of Norton; and 12 great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow Street, North Reading, on Tuesday, April 9, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Theresa’s Church, 63 Winter Street (Route 62), North Reading. Calling hours will be on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Tribute Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
