Sylvia v. Bloom, 81

Andover — Sylvia V. (Hershfield) Bloom formerly of Andover died at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield on Wednesday morning.

A native of Lawrence, she was a graduate of Lawrence High school and Simmons College Class of 1952. Her early employment was in the family business, Hershfield Clothing Store in Lawrence, then worked for many years as a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.

She moved to Andover in 1976 and remained a resident until moving to Brooksby VIllage, Peabody 4 years ago.

Mrs. Bloom was former active member of Temple Emanuel in Andover, Hadassah and Bnai Brith. Mrs. Bloom volunteered many hours to Andover Library, teaching English as a second language to many immigrants.

She was the devoted wife of the late Richard Bloom: beloved mother of Debra & her husband Gerald O’ Connor, Paul Bloom and Susan & her husband Richard O’Neil; cherished grandmother of James O’Neil and Molly O’Neil and dear sister of the late Carl Hershfield.

ARRANGEMENTS: Services at Temple Emanuel 7 Haggetts Pond Road Andover on Friday November 30 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Lawrence. Condolence calls may be made following the interment at Temple Emanuel until 4:00PM. Continuing at the home of Debra & Richard O’Connor Saturday evening 6-8PM and Sunday 1-5PM.
