Joseph D. Paulauskas

Haverhill — Joseph D. Paulauskas, 95, lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 8, 2012 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.

Joseph was born on November 3, 1917 in Haverhill, son of the late Peter and Anna (Yaciunskas) Paulauskas of Lithuania. He was raised in Haverhill and attended Haverhill Schools. Joseph is a Veteran of the United States Navy having served with the Naval Air Force. He was in the flight training program and became a pilot while serving. Joseph attended Virginia Tech and William and Mary College.

Mr. Paulauskas returned to Haverhill and began to raise his family with his devoted wife of 63 years, Jean M. (Kardek) Paulauskas. He was a pianist with the Club Mayfair Orchestra and met his wife during one of their performances. Joseph worked for a period of time at the Quincy Naval Shipyard where he was proud to help build the USS Massachusetts. Joseph was co-founder and owner of the Nifty-Nip Potato Chip Company, Haverhill. His career was with the former Western Electric, No. Andover, where he was employed as a Quality Control Engineer. He worked until his retirement, then having 30 wonderful years of being able to enjoy activities such as boating, fishing, and sailing. His pride and joy was his Camp at Lake Attitash, Amesbury that he shared with his family for 63 years. He was a member of the Lithuanian Gedimino Club of Haverhill. Longtime parishioner of the former St. George’s Church, Washington Street, Haverhill. Joseph will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

His surviving family members in addition to his wife, include his loving daughter, Linda A. Bradley and her husband Ron of Methuen; grandson, Kevin J. Bradley of Methuen; niece, Debra McDonald of Walpole; several other nieces and nephews; brother of the late Albert P. Paulauskas.

ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be held, Saturday morning, December 15, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Bradford at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street (Rte. 110), Methuen at 11:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Montvale Street, Bradford. Visiting hours will be held Friday in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street (Rte. 125), Bradford, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
