Atkinson, NH — Dorothy R. (Wechezak) Stiebitz, 76, of Atkinson, N.H., passed away on Thursday, June 27, at her residence.
She was born in Merrimac, Mass., on February 16, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Anne (Tomzak) Wechezak.
A lifelong educator and traveler of the world, Dorothy was a teacher and assistant principal for 30 years, before she traded in her chalk and ruler for a suitcase and passport. Riding the Orient Express, Kenyan safaris and month-long jaunts to the Caribbean, were of the norm.
Growing up on a farm, Dorothy had an incomparable work ethic that translated into every aspect of her life, which she imparted on her family.
She is survived by her husband, Walter P. Stiebitz; daughters, Sheryl L. and her husband, Christopher Chalmers of E. Hampstead, N.H.,, Rachel V. and her husband, Stephen McClary of Framingham, Mass., Deborah A. and her husband, David Roberts of Grapevine, Ariz., Lori Brown and her husband, James, Shari Markey and her husband, Peter, Heidi Mallett and her husband John, and Michael and his wife, Patricia; her sisters, Phyllis Pienta of Rockville, Md., and Arlene Wechezak of Anacortes, Wash.; grandchildren, Jackson, Adam and Spencer Chalmers, Olivia and Elle McClary, Brian Roberts, Gregory Brown, Matthew, Christopher, and Nicole Mallett; as well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
ARRANGEMENTS: At the family’s request, funeral services will be private at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. Interment will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, N.H.
