Marian Akstin, 84

Methuen — Marian Akstin, (Mae) 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center of Methuen, MA. Marian’s family would like to express their appreciation and thanks for the loving care and comfort she received at Methuen Health and Rehab, and also those from Life Choice. Marian’s loving smile will be missed by all her knew her. She was a woman of strong faith and love of family.

Marian was born Ida Marian Privitera in San Francisco, California on April 28, 1928, and most people called her Mae. An only child born to Italian parents Marian moved to Lawrence, MA as a child. She graduated from Lawrence High in 1946. Marian is survived by her children: her son, Andrew Grasso of New Mexico, her daughter Francine Belluardo and son-in-law, Tom, of Methuen, and her daughter Valerie Fowler and son-in-law, John, of Salem, NH. Marian was known as “Nana” and much loved by her grandchildren: Melissa Belluardo, Kerrie Fraser, Kellie Tropeano, Lani Leland, Ashley Smith, Andrew Boyd, Kristen Donovan, Aaron Boyd, Charlie Grasso and several great- grandchildren.

Marian loved music, and her family gathered by her bedside to sing some of her favorite hymns just last week – Amazing Grace and Because He Lives, among many others – songs that tell of God’s saving love and grace, and songs that express just how much she loved her heavenly father.
