Deanna M. Desmet, 71

Dover, NH — Deanna was born on June 5, 1942, in Beverly, Mass., to Anthony and Violet (Melei) Sayrs. She spent her last days in Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H., after a lengthy illness, and passed over to the next world on September 9, 2013. She grew up in Lawrence and attended Lawrence High School. Deanna worked in her younger years at Grant’s in downtown Lawrence, as well as several other companies in the local area during her lifetime. She loved singing and her family enjoyed hearing her melodious voice, which often would bring tears to their eyes. Deanna knew the words to all the songs without hesitation. Her family would say her voice was better than most professional singers. She married her high school sweetheart, and they devoted 52 years together until the time of her death. She gave birth to five wonderful children, and was a devoted and loving mother throughout her life. She has four proud and loving sisters who will miss her dearly for the rest of their lives. Deanna loved being surrounded by her family, and that is what made her happiest. She adored her grandchildren, who are left behind to cherish special memories of their times with Nana. Deanna was predeceased by her parents, Violet and Anthony Sayrs; and her nephew, Lt. Col. Sean M. Judge. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Edward Desmet of Dover; three sons, Edward (Jane) Desmet of Derry, Michael Ravell of Barnstead, N.H., Thomas Desmet of Rochester, N.H.; and two daughters Deanna (Joey) Gagnon of Dover, and Leandra (Josh) Ferry of Rochester, N.H.; four loving sisters, Roseanne Cabral, Violet Sayrs, Mary (David) Conant, and Kathleen Martin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Butch) Paris, John (Joyce) Desmet, and Gerry (Lucille) Desmet; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, Erica Desmet, Tabatha Desmet, Joelee Gagnon, Thomas, Edward and Kevin Desmet, Lisa Doyle, and Jennifer Scafidi; and several nieces and nephews.

The family held a private service on Saturday, September 14.
